A Chinese New Year Visit...
Saturday, March 13, 2010

Yes, I know Chinese New Year has long since ended, and the angpaus have been torn open and thrown into the dustbins long ago (after the contents have been carefully extracted and counted, of course). Nonetheless, certain events have to be spoken about, especially when it involves a whole lot of laughter and friends. Shen Myin had invited us over to her place in KL, to celebrate the auspicious Chinese festival in the traditional manner: visitations, and lots of snacks and table-top tidbits.

Nicole and I arrived, and were immediately astounded by the level of security that greeted us. I would definitely a whole lot safer if I had to pass through intercoms and video cameras before I could even arrive at the door. Having done the CIA-style checks, we went up to her floor, and started the good 'ol process of eating and talking.

This is an advanced intercom with video display capabilities. My apartment has an old guard with a with walkie talkie. There's a vast difference there.

Our delightful hostess, The Queen of Food and Good Books.

Jenna and The Delightful Hostess.

Andre! With an exceptionally vicious expression.

The table of tidbits.

Nicole, in her Amazing Leopard Print top!

Drunk on prawn crackers.

The ladies!

I found a new friend.

Shen's place was filled with antiques and curios, standing around the corners of the room. Looking at them inspired me to adopt a similar style at my apartment. Unfortunately, the same statues and curios that tastefully adorned Shen's place would look tacky/creepy at my own.

Such as this mask with one eye.

Life imitates art.

The Compulsory Group Photo (with me imitating art).
